According to the Austin Business Journal, Foundation Communities is among the top 10 nonprofits in Austin, ranked by total revenue. With real estate holdings valued at more than $60 million and a $4 million endowment for capital expenditures, we are fortunate to have a solid base of success on which to build.

We have developed a business model in which earned income from rent, management fees and interest cover our affordable housing operations. Yet, some of our most popular and succesful programs depend entirely on fundraising. Without grants from corporations, foundations and individuals we would not be able to help homeless families get on their feet, maintain quality youth programs, provide matching funds for savings that increases the asset-buying power of low-income families or prepare thousands of income tax returns for working poor families or elderly.

“With about 80% of revenue coming from operations, Foundation Communities has a business-like approach that makes it easy for my foundation to invest.”

—Alan Topfer, Topfer Family Foundation
